There is no direct Amtrak service. Guests should detrain at either Pauls Valley or Ardmore.


Davis/Sulphur

Located in the heart of the Arbuckle Mountains, Davis and nearby Sulphur offer many outdoor recreational opportunities, including Turner Falls park, a wonderland of pools, springs, caves, and a magnificent 77-foot waterfall.  Another is Arbuckle Wilderness, a free-roaming exotic animal park, which includes drive through and walk through areas where you may feed the animals.

Davis is home to a downtown filled with antique shops, plus a museum featuring complete local history and a scale model of Fort Arbuckle. Canoeing on the Washita River is popular sport, and camping and fishing opportunities are numerous.

Sulphur (8 miles east) is home to the Chickasaw National Recreation Area, complete with beautiful hiking trails and the Travertine Nature Center  with its educational exhibits.  The Arbuckle Historical Museum contains exhibits on the history of the Chickasaw Indians, the nearby mineral springs (reverend for their medicinal healing properties), Platt National Park, and other local history.



Lake Murray State Park

Heartland Flyer passengers can catch complimentary shuttle service at the Ardmore station over to Lake Murray Resort, Oklahoma's oldest and largest state park, located on the shores of beautiful Lake Murray. Fishing, boating and all water sports are found at Lake Murray. Other activities include golfing, picnics, camping, horseback riding, hayrides, hiking, biking, rollerblading, swimming, miniature golf and paddle boating. Sports facilities include an 18-hole golf course with a pro shop, tennis courts, softball fields, baseball diamond, horseshoe pits, badminton and volleyball nets, and a new and improved ATV area for 3/4 wheelers, motorcycles and dirt bikes. Other facilities found in the park include an airstrip, bait and tackle shop, marina with rentals and enclosed fishing dock, swimming pool with a changing house, swimming beach, riding stable, remote control air field for hobbyists, scuba outfitter, miniature golf course and frisbee golf. While visiting the park, be sure to check out the Tucker Tower Nature Center, a former summer retreat of Governor Murray that was built by the WPA on a bluff and looks much like a lighthouse. Today, local artifacts are housed there and nature programs and activities by the state park naturalist are conducted. Hickory Creek area has good opportunities for fall foliage viewing. Numerous RV campsites and tent camping areas are located throughout the park. Arbuckle Wilderness
Located in the scenic Arbuckle Mountains, this drive-through exotic animal theme park will excite and entertain you.  Lions, tigers, rhinos, giraffes, and camels are among the rare, wild animals mostly free roaming in habitats similar to their own.  You may feed the free roaming animals from your car window.  You may use your own car or ride the open air safari bus.  In the summertime you may also walk through the petting zoo, ride go-carts, camels, and paddle boats.  Open year round except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day.  Voted Oklahoma's #1 Attraction in 2005!

Chickasaw National Recreation Area
Sulphur, Oklahoma
The “Peaceful Valley of Rippling Waters” appropriately describes Chickasaw National Recreation Area, as it is known for its many mineral springs, cool water, flora, fauna, and wildlife. Here one’s mind may wander back in time to when the early American Indian came to this area to rest, relax at the water's edge, and hunt for their food from the abundant wildlife.

Treasure Valley Gaming Center
Treasure Valley Gaming Center is a Native American Casino open daily 9 a.m. - 6 a.m.  The casino is about 20,000 square feet.  The property has a restaurant and a hotel with 59 rooms.  Treasure Valley Gaming Center has 316 slot machines and 6 table games including Black Jack and Texas Hold'em.

Main Street
Enjoy Davis' small town charm with its period lighting, brick flower boxes, and unique store fronts.  You will find antique stores, an old-fashioned soda fountain, unique gift stores, and friendly individual service.  Enjoy an upscale boutique hotel with a coffee house in its lobby serving home baked goods and grilled sandwiches.
